Ms. Yanet Bermudez is currently nearing the completion of her Doctoral degree in Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature at James Madison University. She received Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba.
Ms. Bermudez’s career as solo and collaborative pianist has been featured in the United States, Cuba and Venezuela. She has obtained first prizes in several piano solo and chamber music competitions including the Iberoamerican Piano Competition and the XVII Musicalia International Competition. Ms. Bermudez made her debut performance with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba in 2006.
As an instructor, Ms. Bermudez recognizes that every student learns differently and that positive results are the most direct and meaningful source of motivation. Her overarching goal is to support students to become independent musicians by fostering a solid technique and practice habits through a positive and individually customized learning experience.
