Dr. ShunFu Chang is recognized as a multi-faceted pianist, chamber musician and piano pedagogue. Dr. Chang has been a major prizewinner at several competitions, including the Petrichor International Music Competition in 2022 (Semi- Finalist), the "Golden Classical Music Awards" International Competition in 2019 (1st Prize), the TSO Young Talent Concerto Competition in 2017 (1st Prize) and the National Taiwan Normal University Concerto Competition in 2017 (1st Prize).
As a solo pianist, he performs widely and has appeared in many countries, including performances at New York’s Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Eckard College in Tampa, the University of Michigan, the University of South Florida, Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor and Bard College Conservatory of Music, Centro Municipal Integrado de Gijón-sur and Colegiata de San Juan Bautista at Spain, and National Concert Hall, Monumental Concert Hall and National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. Dr. Chang has also participated in prestigious piano festivals including the Gijón International Piano Festival, Chautauqua Institute Piano Program and Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival.
As a recording artist, Dr. Chang participated in the Blue Griffin Recording Project, where he gave the world premiere performance and recording of four preludes written by William Horne. The CD has been released and promoted internationally.
Dr. Chang earned both his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan.
With over a decade of teaching experience, Dr. Chang has worked with students ranging from beginners to graduate-level pianists in both private lessons and group piano classes. He believes deeply in the transformative power of music, stating, “My desire is for my students to be able to utilize music as a communicative tool.”
