Alexandra Taggart Olawuni

Ms. Alexandra Taggart is a pianist and pedagogue originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Ohio University where she studied with Dr. Christopher Fisher. As a graduate student, she taught collegiate group piano courses and accompanied in the School of Music. She taught private lessons and assisted in group classes through the Athens Community Music School. She also studied the organ with Dr. Paul Barte.  Ms. Taggart served as president of Ohio University’s Collegiate Chapter of the Music Teachers National Association. She presented multiple sessions and posters at conferences throughout the United States with this group, sharing about their music outreach projects. She holds undergraduate degrees from Florida State University where she studied piano with Dr. Heidi Louise Williams. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs with a concentration in Italian. At FSU she also played the clarinet in the university concert bands. Ms. Taggart has twice been a semi-finalist for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program for the English Teaching Assistant Award in Italy. In 2019 Ms. Taggart participated in the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, where she performed in masterclasses for renowned pianists, Dr. Jane Magrath and Alvin Chow. In 2018 she was awarded honorable mention for her concerto performance in Ohio University’s Student Soloist Competition.
 
Ms. Taggart believes in equipping and empowering her students with skills for a lifelong enjoyment of music. She is passionate about engaging in her local community through classical music.
