Juan Lopez

Juan López is an active concert pianist, soloist, collaborative pianist, and pedagogue. From 2011 to 2026, he served as Associate Professor at the Conservatory of Tolima, where he led the piano department and was actively involved in academic accompaniment and artistic direction.

He holds a Master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy with honors from the National University of Colombia, where he studied under Maestro Mac McClure, a disciple of Alicia de Larrocha. His artistic training has been further enriched through masterclasses and advanced studies with internationally recognized pianists and pedagogues.

Mr. López maintains an active international performance career, appearing at major festivals and concert venues throughout Colombia and abroad. His work includes extensive chamber music and collaborative performances, participation in international competitions, and the premiere of new works. In 2018, he represented Colombia at the World Piano Conference in Novi Sad, Serbia. His distinctions include the Salvi Foundation Scholarship to attend the Cartagena International Music Festival and first prize at the Musikeon Piano Competition in Valencia, Spain.

Since 2023, he has served as Artistic Director of the Ibagué International Piano Festival, contributing to its growth as a leading Latin American platform for world-class pianists. In 2024, he was appointed Artistic Director of the First Blanca Uribe International Piano Competition, an international initiative honoring the legacy of Maestro Blanca Uribe while fostering pianistic excellence among emerging artists. He also collaborates closely with Maestro Uribe as part of a piano duo, furthering his commitment to the dissemination of universal piano repertoire and to audience development through four-hand piano performance.
 
A passionate advocate for piano education at all levels, Mr. López is especially dedicated to teaching children and cultivating artistic excellence. His teaching approach emphasizes strong technical and musical foundations, age-appropriate repertoire, and concept-based instruction that supports sustained artistic development and musical enjoyment from the earliest stages of study.
